Green party leader Elizabeth May is in the lead to win against Conservative incumbent Gary Lunn in the B.C. riding of Saanich-Gulf Islands, according to results of a poll conducted for the party that showed that almost half of residents in the region would vote for Ms. May. Fortyfive per cent of voters polled in the riding said they would vote for Ms. May, pictured, compared with 38% who said they would vote Conservative, results from an Oraclepoll Research survey revealed. The Liberal and NDP candidates in the region each received 9% support from respondents, while 16% said they were undecided. Thirteen per cent selected Ms. May as their second choice and 6% chose Mr. Lunn as their runner-up option, results of the Oraclepoll survey showed. Although she has held quick whistle-stop tours, much of Ms. May's campaign has been focused on canvassing in the B.C. region.
